Long-distance move from Waldorf, MD to Oscoda, MI

Criminals!

ALERT! BE AWARE!

GREAT MOVING has scammed me out of $1,800 in bogus fees. I used them to move from MD to MI. They picked up 3/23/20 in MD. Date of delivery 4/28/20 to MI. When my stuff was en route they called to say the 53' semi could not access our home and we would be required to pay a shuttle fee of $1,800 (50 cent per cubic feet which they reduced from $2 per cubic foot.. how nice of them). I HAD to pay or they'd put our stuff back in storage and charge us $1 per cubic foot × 3,600 = $3,600. I agreed to pay, no other choice even after I gave alternate options including bringing to a warehouse in same town for storage, which they refused. I had to pay, and they only would take cash or money order.. shocker. The movers arrived, 2 hours after I agreed to the shuttle (mind you they were supposed to have been in a 53 foot truck that they had to park somewhere and offload 3,600 cubic feet of stuff into other smaller truck(s).. in the same time they had to actually acquire these smaller trucks, as well). They arrive in 2 Enterprise box trucks (26 footers?), and as I hand them the money I notice a MD license plate. As I point out the coincidence of this I ask where they parked the 53 foot semi to offload onto these 2 smaller trucks. They said there was no 53' truck. I ask where these came from, they say NJ. So, there Never was a 53' truck that had to be offloaded to smaller trucks to shuttle to my house. And to boot, there were Other people's goods on Both of the smaller trucks.. one destined for Chicago and one for Indiana. All 4 movers on site gave me their names and stated they would speak the truth of what happened. My family was also present for this interaction. I have requested a refund, citing the above Facts, and Great Moving has refused! I have filed with the Federal Motor Carriage Safety Administration who is launching an investigation. I have filed with the Better Business Bureau who has also agreed to investigate. The Great Moving company has a few addresses as well as phone numbers, but their US DOT # is 2430969 and their MC #838059, website is https://greatmovingusa.com. If You have been scammed out of money by these people please reach out! They have broken laws.. lies, scams, fraud, extortion, etc.. across State lines which makes it Federal in nature!

Local move within Idaho

Horrible experience.

Where to start? I accepted the original quote for my move (North Carolina to Idaho) at 2400 miles and signed for it. The original cost was $1,600 which I expected for my distance. The rep called me 5 days before my move to tell me he had calculated the price incorrectly and that it will be another $150. Being so close to my move, I didn't have time to find another mover and had to eat it.

The day the movers showed up, they seemed professional and packed my stuff pretty well. Except they hit me with a surprise $600 fee because my driveway was "too narrow" for their 18 wheeler. My driveway was an average size in an average neighborhood. Who shows up to a residential neighborhood in an 18 wheeler semi? How was that my problem? I angrily paid this fee and they took my stuff.

5 days later, I get the call that they will be arriving in 4-14 business days. Definitely not the ETA I was told at pickup, but whatever.

The day my stuff arrived was when I lost it with this company. My computer desk was completely destroyed, and they lost 4 boxes of my things. The truck my stuff was packed in looked completely ravaged and unorganized. The woman I spoke with at customer service had no remorse and directed me to fill out the claim sheet in order to have any reimbursement.

The total for my move turned out to be around $2,400, originally quoted at $1,600, and they lost/broke my items on top of it.

PICK A DIFFERENT COMPANY. The reviews on their website are fake.

Long-distance move from Edison, NJ to Boulder, CO

Much of stuff broken; they refuse to replace despite protection.

Great Moving basically a boiler room for getting people to sign moving contracts. Once you sign the contract, communication will go to zero, and you will receive no updates. Staff is rude as their only job is to make you frustrated and go away.

1.) Moving company broke items, and when I asked them for a claims form, they sent me to some 3rd party who apparently represents them. The 3rd party ( Anthem Claims ) had never heard of my moving company.

2.) According to FMSCA, you are entitled to full value protection unless it is waived. I never waived protection and provided documentation. Once Arc Transport and Great Movers realized I was correct, they stopped all communication and refused to cooperate because they knew they were on the hook for replacement.

There's multiple denials of federal moving rights provided by the FMSCA, including full value protection waivers and the right to provide a claim service. This company is corrupt, unethical, and should be shut down.

Unprofessional behavior by “Great Moving”, broken and lost items.

I wish I could give zero star for this moving company. Please do not work this company as they are scammers and loot all your money in any possible manner. Do not get fooled with their estimates, you will have surprises like shuttle service, more distance from the parking lot etc.. they name wide variety of charges to rip you off on moving day and delivery day. They will put you in a spot that you won't have choice and you got to go with them. I will not recommend anyone to this company. Be careful!

Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to Las Vegas, NV

Worse experiece ever.

I don't normally write reviews for anyone but was compelled to do so here.

Stay away from this company. They hook you up with a low quote but in the end, you will end up with a bigger bill than expected.
Things to look for:
1- 0 customer service (Sat and Sun) no staff available.
2-Will make you lose a day waiting for the movers, no calls, no shows. ( I waited for 8 hrs. for a pick up scheduled before 12noon) Movers showed up at 5:15 pm.
3- If the pick-up distance for the items are 25-50ft away or more they charge you $300
4-They will redo the cover of any glass and charge you the material blaming the insurance policy.
5-They will charge you $150 after 1st flight of stairs = 7steps.
6-You will wait more than 30 days to get your things delivered and all broke and messed up.
7- They will blame the insurance for replacements and will never happen.
I wish I would have known about this company prior to making business with them. A major regret.

I do hope that somehow it catches up to them.

Thieves and Thugs/ extreme Harassment Lost Box.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. Initial offer was $1200 and we gave a written list of all our stuff. The packers came and said our queen size bed was large and that they would charge $700 more. The sales rep said no charge for stairs but the driver asked for money. They did the worst job packing the furniture. We get a call 1 week later that their truck can't enter our new community and that we were supposed to inform them about it. FYI all truck including fedex etc easily enter the premises but they wanted 500$ more for transferring the stuff to a small truck and then to our house. The verbally shouted and argued about it on the phone. Finally settled for $150 for it. Their driver arrives and says he wants $250 for climbing stairs and that 2 steps from the parking to our main gate were also stairs so chargeable. Again harassed us a lot and was leaving the stuff on the door until we gave him $250 cash. Finally didn't give us one Box and called later to say he found it in the truck and we should drive one hour from our place to pick it up. We said we don't mind receiving it later via ground shipping. Called them yesterday and now they are saying they threw the box and offering $30 for it. It had my wedding dress and shoes and other very sentimental stuff. How am I to replace that. I can't even begin to say how horrible these people are. Absolutely no regard for you and all of them, starting from the sales rep to managers and then the drivers are thugs and will harass you non stop.

Long-distance move from Maryland to Texas

Customers beware.

Great Moving provided me with a binding estimate. On the day of pick up the movers were late. They showed up in a Penske rental truck instead of a moving van.My friend met the movers. The movers were instructed to contact me in the event there were any extra charges beyond the extra $300 I had paid up front. They did not contact me concerning extra charges.THE MOVERS had my friend sign the paperwork even though the company had no written authorization from me giving anyone rights to sign in my place.I was available by phone, email and fax the entire day of pick up.The movers did not contact me concerning signing of any paperwork. The company has now charged me for a shuttle in the amount of $756 stating that they could not fit a big moving truck into the storage facility where my goods were picked up from even though there have been numerous other moving trucks pick up from this same location with no issues. The movers packed a total of 6 boxes for which they are charging me an extra $700 in addition to the charge for the shuttle which was not necessary nor was this charge listed as a part of the binding estimate. The movers did pack a grandfather clock for which I was charged and had agreed to pay $150 as part of the binding estimate. The balance that I currently owe on the binding estimate is $390. GREAT MOVING is demanding $2500 more before they will even ship my household goods (which I have already paid them to do yet they want more money). They have threatened that they will sell my property if I do not pay this amount in essence holding my goods hostage. They have also told me verbally that I will have to pay another $748.50 upon delivery.I have tried calling the moving company in an attempt to work things out to a favorable conclusion for all concerned. They have been rude and argumentative when I pointed out that the person who signed the paperwork at pickup was not authorized by law to do so. The woman on the phone told me "you think you have all the i's dotted and your t's crossed but I (meaning the Great Moving customer service representative) have the exclamation points!". I went on to ask about her about filing a claim. She told me I couldn't file a claim until my goods had been delivered. I told her I wanted to request mediation She told me I can't request mediation until I have filed a claim and I can't file a claim until AFTER MY GOODS HAVE BEEN DELIVERED. I don't know what the solution for this mess is at this point. I paid these people in good faith expecting them to do what they agreed to do as outlined on the binding estimate that I signed. I also want to stress that I was the ONLY person listed on the binding estimate and the ONLY individual that signed the binding estimate. My goods were picked up on Saturday , January 25, 2020 and I have not seen them since. The moving company WILL NOT disclose the location of my goods even though I have demanded this information both verbally and in writing via email. They did finally give me the zip code of the location, but that was all they would share. They have told me that if I won't pay the $2500 they demand that they will cancel the contract and I will have to pick my goods up or they will sell everything! At this point how could I even pick up the items or arrange for someone to pick them up for me if they won't disclose the location of the goods? That makes it impossible for me to make any arrangements whatsoever and with no advance notice allowing me time to work things out. This situation has caused me undue emotional distress that endangers my health and well being. I'm praying for a miracle because it is obvious that is what it will take for me to ever see my property again.

Long-distance move from Madison, WI to Charlotte, NC

Crooks and Thieves.

They initially offered a great rate so I zelle them the down payment. Showed up to load the truck and more than doubled the initial estimate and demanded a large check before taking the load so I paid them. They called back 2 days later demanding more money so their driver wouldn’t have to carry so much cash upon delivery, so I sent them a 3rd payment. Couple days later they call and say they can’t get the “semi” in my subdivision and would have to transfer to a box truck and that would be another $1000. I said I wouldn’t pay that much and magically they dropped the price to $600. I said no and they said they would deliver to a storage unit with access, so I found the right unit and rented it so they could deliver without issues when they were ready. 10 days go by with no communication then a phone call at 7:30pm from a pushy driver saying that they can deliver at 9:30pm. They didn’t know about the storage unit delivery and when I explained the situation he said no problem the load wasn’t in a semi and they could deliver directly to the home. Reluctantly I agreed to the late night delivery and eagerly awaited. 10 minutes later I get a call back from the driver saying “the boss won’t let us deliver without charging the extra $600”. I said no and we agreed they would deliver to the storage unit in the morning at 9am. The next day we meet at the unit and they tell me the “boss wanted us to collect a $500 overnight fee” but said they would not ask for it, but demanded the 4th and final payment in cash before unloading so I pay them. They unload into the storage unit and some of the items weren’t mine so I had to tell them twice before they put them back on the truck. So not too surprising days later while unpacking I realize I’m missing several totes that had expensive power tools and electronics in them. Calling their office offered no resolution to finding the missing items or being reimbursed for the loss.

Absolute Nightmare.

Also they came up with additional charges and said mattress is large and some shit all they talk about. They just want to loot your money. Please don't fall for it and lose your money. Get this cheaters out of business . Quote had all items mentioned and still they want to charge double.

I said I want to cancel and they took away my deposit of $400 and demanding more.

Scammers/unethical unprofessional US DOT:2430969 MC:838059.

Their trick is simple. Hook you up with a very low quote. Once load the items they double the price and unless you pay they won’t ship. On delivery you notice items missing and broken. Lot of mental stress and they don’t have any basic human Values. It’s very surprising we still have these type of horrible people in our society who get pleasure in harassing others and stealing/destroying others property.

We all should form a group and take legal actions. This company should shut its door.
